DELTA AIR LINES has finalised its Boeing 737 hushkit plans, placing an order with Nordam for Stage 3 sets for up to 55 aircraft, which will enable its entire 737-200 fleet to be equipped.

The airline has placed a firm contract with Nordam for 25 hushkit sets, plus options for a further 30. The decision, coupled with an earlier order for FedEx Aviation Services (FEASI) hushkits for Boeing 727-200s, will enable Delta to meet Stage 3 noise requirements ahead of the compliance deadline, according to the US carrier.

The Atlanta, Georgia-based carrier has ordered Nordam's $1.3 million low-gross-weight hushkit for the Pratt & Whitney JT8D-powered 737-200, with a new 18-lobe exhaust mixer developed jointly with P&W and which is now in flight test. Tulsa, Oklahoma-based Nordam says that it now has 210 firm orders for 737-200 hushkits, plus 146 options.

Florida-based Avaero also offers a Stage 3 hushkit which is designed for the 737-200.
