Derco Aerospace (Hall 4, E11) has once again been named a major sub-contractor after the Defence Supply Centre Richmond (DSCR) awarded a ‘virtual prime vendor' (VPV) follow-on contract to Hamilton Sundstrand.

Under the contract Derco will perform a share of the VPV responsibilities including forecasting, stocking and distributing parts for the C-130, P-3 and E2-C2 aircraft.

This kind of contract is highly innovative, placing responsibility for total programme parts support under one contract. The contract is due to run until 2005.

The deal cements Derco Aerospace's long-running relationship with Hamilton Sundstrand.

The first VPV contract was awarded by DSCR to Hamilton Sundstrand and subcontracted to Derco in 1996.

"Derco Aerospace is pleased to be selected once again by Hamilton Sundstrand to be a member of the VPV team and to have the opportunity to participate in this revolutionary programme." says Paul McBride, vice-president of marketing and strategic alliances. "The VPV program exemplifies the Derco philosophy of providing superior service and support for our customers and OEM partners."
