US helicopter manufacturer Kaman received the perfect pre-Farnborough tonic with the sale of two more K-Max aerial trucks to European operators - a key market for the aircraft.

Heli-Air Zagel of Germany and Austrian company Wucher Helicopters will use the K-Max for logging operations and general construction.

Opportunity

Steven Daniels, manager for commercial K-Max marketing, says: "We see a lot of opportunity in Europe and operators like Heli-Air Zagel and Wucher are continuing to help us develop this market by demonstrating the aircraft's cost-effective lifting capabilities."

The K-Max employs intermeshing rotor technology with a counter-rotating main rotor and no tail rotor, allowing all engine power to go directly to the main rotor. The aircraft is also specifically designed for vertical reference flight, with a narrow profile that gives the pilot a clear view of the load, by looking out from either side of the cockpit.
