Seven Embraer jets are the launch aircraft for the fleet of a new VIP charter service, and two Airbus 318 Elites are expected to join them.
Abu Dhabi is the base for Al Jaber Group’s new venture of, which has placed the largest single order in the region for Embraer Executive Jets, worth $300 million. The company is believed to be announcing the two A318 Elite aircraft valued at $94m later today.
Yesterday’s Embraer deal covers five Lineage 1000s and two Legacy 600s, as well as options for two more Lineage 1000s and one Legacy 600s. The first Legacy 600 is scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2009. The first Lineage 1000 is set for delivery in the first half in 2010 and Al Jaber is likely to turn the options into firm orders.
“Our new aviation division is focused on providing the most luxurious flying experience for our clients, and it is imperative that we tie-up with the world’s leading aircraft manufacturers to assure top-notch quality – both in terms of the produce and service,” says Obeid Al Jaber, chairman of Al Jaber Group.
Chief executive Mohamed Al Jaber says: “Our decision to partner with Embraer was taken after a detailed study, market analysis and aircraft assessment.” This showed that Abu Dhabi was the perfect base for a worldwide service, and Embraer had the best technology for most flights.
Luis Carlos Affonso, Embraer executive vice president executive aviation, says the order highlights response to Embraer in the Middle East. “This market is a very demanding one where the customers usually place a strong emphasis on value for money,” he says.
