Midcoast Aviation is offering onboard internet and email connectivity for users of BlackBerry handheld computers on Gulfstream IV and two Bombardier Global Express aircraft.
The user-friendly system lets BlackBerry users plug in to a supplied connection in the aircraft cabin. An onboard pen-tablet computer serves as the interface device between the BlackBerry and the aircraft’s high-speed data Satcom system.
Once connected the user can then sync and e-mail. “Any aircraft with an existing Satcom system can be upgraded to provide high-speed data service. No STC is required,” says Rodger Renaud, Midcoast’s senior vice president, completions.
