Rockwell Collins has been selected by Qatar Airways to supply its suite of avionics, including the MultiScan hazard detection system, for 20 Boeing 777s with an option for 20 additional aircraft.

Qatar Airways also selected Rockwell Collins’ traffic collision avoidance system (TCAS) and SAT-2100 satellite navigation, with dual SwiftBroadband and the full suite of communications, navigation and sensors.

Jeff Standerski, vice president and general manager of air transport systems for Rockwell Collins, says: “MultiScan continues to be a key differentiator for our customers and we’re excited that Qatar Airways has selected this important technology for their new Boeing 777s.”

Rockwell Collins says its WXR-2100 MultiScan weather radar is the first and only radar that analyses and determines actual weather hazards, not simply atmospheric moisture content. It provides clutter-free weather detection from the nose of the aircraft out to 320 nautical miles.
