Emirates Airline has selected Rockwell Collins  to provide a range of in-flight entertainment and avionics equipment for its Boeing and Airbus fleet.

The company has chosen Rockwell Collins’ Airshow 4200D moving map and flight information system for its Boeing 777 and A380 fleet, and the MultiScan hazard detection system and a broad range of avionics for 47 of its Boeing 777 aircraft, with an option on a further 12.

The Airshow 4200D incorporates a new digital video interface, designed specifically to take advantage of the latest generation of in-flight entertainment (IFE) systems, providing an all-digital display. Airshow 4200D also offers the choice to display in a native widescreen format.

The MultiScan weather radar is a fully-automatic, hands-free airborne radar providing clutter-free weather detection from the nose of the aircraft out to 320nm. Emirates also selected the Rockwell Collins GLU-920 multi-mode receiver (MMR), which provides the aircraft’s primary position, velocity and time reference and enables precision landing capability.

Other Rockwell Collins equipment chosen by Emirates includes the ADF-900 automatic direction finder, DME-900 distance measuring equipment, HFS-900D high frequency system, CPL-920D coupling unit and the VOR-900 VHF omnidirectional radio.
