The European Aviation Safety Agency has approved the Honeywell TFE-731-20BR engine upgrade for the Learjet 45XR business jet, paving the way for deliveries of the superlight aircraft in Europe. The 45XR is designed to provide better hot-and-high performance than its TFE 731-20AR equipped Learjet 45 stablemate, which remains in production, as well as greater payload-range capability through a 455kg (1,000lb) increase in maximum take-off weight. A 45XR retrofit will also be available through Lufthansa Bombardier Aviation Services in Berlin. A total of 20 45XRs have been delivered to date, Bombardier says.
