If you’re feeling hungry, you might want to get over to in-flight catering specialist On Cloud 9 is offering delicious samples of its culinary skills.

On Cloud 9 is a division of London-based caterer Baker and Spice. It was voted European Caterer of the Year by NetJets last year, and marketing manager Alex Maynard says the company owes its existence to the fractional ownership operator.

Baker and Spice was founded in Chelsea in1995 by Gail Meijia as a new kind of food shop using fresh and organic ingredients with everything cooked from scratch in the kitchen.

It now has four branches across London as well as offering external catering contracts. But one day in 2002 changed Baker and Spice’s business forever. “We were asked to prepare a lunch for six people who turned out to be employees of NetJets,” says Maynard. “They were so impressed with the food we were asked if we could supply our catering for the inaugural flight to launch Netjets in Europe. That was the birth of On Cloud 9 and since then we cater for all NetJets planes as well as Global Jets and a few Norwegian aircraft.”

On Cloud 9 is now a fully-fledged in-flight catering business. It offers box selections (breakfast, lunch and snacks) packed with organic produce. For example, customers can choose a healthy breakfast box consisting of fresh croissants, cakes and sourdough breads, homemade granola, muffins and fresh fruit. The hot breakfast box option is a traditional English breakfast with freshly squeezed orange.

Lunch can be organic potatoes with organic beef and horseradish, or smoked wild salmon with fresh pickled cucumber, red chard and salad - all of which include delicious desserts from chocolate truffles to fresh fruit salad and cheese platters. An a la carte menu is also available.

“We are setting up a new dedicated kitchen for our private jet catering which will be ready in July. We hope delegates at EBACE will be impressed with our samples and package choices,” says Maynard.
