Cessna today released the details of the suppliers that will work with the Wichita company on its new large-cabin, intercontinental model 850 Citation Columbus.
Following its success with the upper and lower panels assemblies on the Cessna Citation X wing, Dallas-based Vought Aircraft Industries will produce the aircraft’s wing at its Nashville facility.

Cessna has also decided to outsource the design and manufacture of the Columbus landing gear system. This work has gone to Goodrich, who will also be providing the wheels and brakes – something they do for other Citation models.

Argo Tech – part of the Eaton Corporation – is for the first time designing and producing the complete fuel system for a Cessna aircraft, although the Californian company has produced a number of components in the past.

“The selection of these companies represents long-term relationships with companies and people who have proven their ability to meet Cessna’s high standards of quality,” Cessna said in a statement.

The Columbus – the flagship of the Cessna products – is aiming for FAA certificiation by the end of 2013. A detailed look at the Columbus project will appear in tomorrow afternoon’s Flight Evening News.
