Czech firm ABS Jets and its Austrian counterpart Avcon Jet have joined forces to set up an Embraer line maintenance facility at Kiev Borispol airport in Ukraine.
Both partners in the project operate large fleets of Embraer aircraft themselves, but working as third-party maintenance providers will allow other users faster access to support, said the companies. The operation will also handle Embraer warranty work.
Vladimir Petak, chief executive of Prague-based ABS, said: "Avcon Jet is a great company, I am extremely pleased that we have been able to create this partnership and to further expand our services into the Ukraine and beyond."
The firm described Ukraine as a country with "great potential". The new site adds to two other ABS Jets maintenance sites at Prague and Bratislava.
Avcon Jet chief executive Alexander Vagacs said ABS Jets was "a natural choice as a partner" for the company as both are Embraer sales representatives for their respective regions.
He added: "Ukraine is a very important market and a great country. We have a good part of our fleet based in Kiev and thus are the largest operator there.
"We are proud to have won the confidence and faith of so many Ukraine customers and aircraft owners."
ABS Jets is a European Part 145 approved maintenance provider and an Embraer authorised service centre. The company has operational bases in Prague and Bratislava and plans to open subsidiaries in Kiev and Sofia.
Headquartered in Vienna, Avcon Jet operates more than 30 aircraft across Europe, the majority in Ukraine and Russia.
