This year's London Olympic Games is set to provide a bumper business boost for the business aviation sector.
One company looking to dine out on the anticipated increase in jet movements is Air Culinaire. It is fine-tuning its distribution operation to ensure it can successfully supply its clients, even at far-flung airports or at short notice.
"With all the steps that go into pre-planning an operation to the 2012 Olympic Games, such as slot reservations, parking, and booking hotels, it's easy to overlook the importance of pre-planning in-flight catering," says Neil Pope, operations director, Air Culinaire-London. "The London Olympics will, we hope, leave a lasting impression on attendees, and we want to ensure that operators' catering experiences are a continuation of that. Our Air Culinaire-London kitchen is prepared for the influx of traffic and catering demand, and our chefs are ready to work with operators to develop a strategy that ensures this critical component of their trip is a success."
Meanwhile, sister company Universal Aviation UK, is also gearing up for a busy games.
It is undertaking a complete internal and external refurbishment - including new and remodelled lounges - of its London Stansted FBO in time for the start of the games.
Sean Raftery, managing director, Universal Aviation UK and Ireland, says: "We feel the complete renovation of our Stansted FBO, combined with the already built-in advantages of Stansted, such as ample parking, the ability to handle large aircraft up to a Boeing 747, and slot availability, will ensure a seamless and first-rate experience for our clients."
The company says although slot availability is unlikely to be an issue, it is essential that clients book parking in advance.
