Two international aviation groups recognised Gulfstream [stand 7061] today for setting 30 records with three new aircraft models during 2012.
"We are proud to have been able to work with Gulfstream on these records and congratulate them on every one of them," says Jonathan Gaffney, president and chief executive of the National Aeronautic Association.
The records were also hailed by Jean-Marc Badan, secretary general of the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale.
Larry Flynn, Gulfstream president, also thanked his employees for the effort required to deliver the G650 and G280 and set numerous records in the same year.
The G650, which achieved airworthiness certification in October, set two speed records in 2012, flying from Washington DC to Geneva at an average rate of 510kt (945km/h) and from Geneva to Savannah, Georgia at 465kt.
The G280, meanwhile, set 22 records as it also entered service in 2012. The G150, which entered service in 2006, established another six G150 marks last year, including a run from Libreville, Gabon to Cape Town, South Africa at an average rate of 448kt.
Gaffney says Gulfstream has 20 more record applications in process.
