Charter operator Hangar8 [stand 6] earned its stripes by unveiling a zebra-pattern Bombardier Global Express jet at EBACE. The distinctive paint job highlights the UK company's developing presence in Africa.
The Luton-based operator has a growing presence in private business aviation within Africa, including maintenance and operating facilities at Abuja and Lagos in Nigeria, and at Pointe-Noire in the Republic of the Congo. It also owns a South African aircraft operator's certificate.
Hangar8 also operates Bombardier Learjet aircraft specially equipped to deliver medical evacuation services to businesses across Africa, with about one-fifth of Hangar8's fleet based in the continent.
"It has been a fantastic year for Hangar8," says chairman Dustin Dryden. "We have successfully completed the acquisition of International JetClub, expanded our managed fleet, which stands at over 50 aircraft, and successfully moved towards managing a greater proportion of long-range, heavy jets in our fleet.
"We have expanded our presence across the fast-growing African market," he adds. "Africa will be a crucial territory for our development, where we expect to see a 20% growth in fleet and turnover this year."
The Global Express on display at EBACE - callsign "Hangar8" - is based at London Luton airport and is one of five of the types in Hangar8's fleet of managed aircraft, with three available for charter.
