Iacobucci HF Group has unveiled a new 21in (53cm) reclining seat for midsize business aircraft designed in conjunction with BMW DesignworksUSA.

With 40 years' experience in the aviation industry, the Italian firm launched its first seat into the business aviation sector in 2010. That was also a collaboration with BMW's design division.

The latest model uses a lightweight aluminium and composite construction, can be reclined and features a USB port for charging mobile devices.

Its shape is also customisable, says Riccardo Palmeri Lolli, group marketing director. He adds: "There's a tendency for ever-more luxurious new jets, customers are getting fed up with excuses as to why things aren't possible. They want the best-looking plane and that's why you need to be able to personalise everything,"

Iacobucci recently secured a contract with Altitude Aerospace Interiors to supply 16 of its lie-flat seats for a Boeing Business Jet. Lolli believes this underlines the company's growing presence in the market.

"The seating business is growing and we thought there was the opportunity for a new player with a different approach."

It is also displaying a new 28V espresso machine and lightweight galley trolley at EBACE.

As a result of increased business it has started building an expanded factory near Lecce in southern Italy which, when completed, will have a total area of 12,800m² (42,000ft²).
