Eclipse Aviation has selected and finalised its pilot training team for the Eclipse 500 very light jet. Netherlands-based Flight Simulation and Texas-based High Power Aviation will work with the company's simulator flight-training device maker, Florida-based Opinicus, to deliver the "comprehensive and rigorous" curriculum approved by the US Federal Aviation Administration last year, Eclipse says. Training is set to begin by the end of the third quarter.

Flight Simulation will provide Eclipse's course content and oversee the overall programme. High Power-certificated flight instructors and training personnel will conduct flight training and type ratings in the USA under its Part 142 certificate. The training programme includes an initial flight skills assessment and supplemental training (if required), self-paced computer based study, emergency situation training, a type rating transition course, post-certification training and recurrent training.

Eclipse in March terminated its relationship with United Airlines, which had been under contract to perform Eclipse 500 training.
