The Israeli ministry of defence has allowed Rafael to offer its Python-3 air-to-air missiles to the Ecuadorian air force, in a move which could lead to a $10 million acquisition. Rafael has also briefed the air force on the new Python-4, although the initial deal is expected to include only the Python-3. Ecuador already operates a squadron of Israeli-made Kfir fighters, but the recent sale of a limited number of additional aircraft caused fierce reactions from neighbouring Peru.
