EDS has signed a five-year contract with SN Brussels Airlines for a suite of industry-customised information technology services.
As a part of the agreement, EDS (Hall2, B16) will support the core IT infrastructure for the new airline, which was launched earlier this year. EDS will support a central infrastructure including passenger reservations, passenger and flight scheduling, departure control, flight operations, and customer loyalty systems.
The company will also provide core business applications development, support and hosting services, delivering many of these services from its new Air Transportation Centre of Excellence in Zurich, Switzerland
"This agreement gives us the right IT functionality and services while helping us manage costs and maintain a stable budget, an important focus in this growth phase of our operations," says Jos Nijs, chief information officer of SN Brussels Airlines.
The new Swiss Centre of Excellence will develop and deploy IT services and software solutions for airlines, airports and transportation clients. Based in Zurich, it houses a data centre where EDS manages and protects data on behalf of global airline, airport and transportation clients. The centre already serves an estimated 140 airlines.
EDS has also announced that German-based airline Hapag Lloyd, a member of the TUI-Group, will use EDS's software-based flight-planning system axsFlightplanning for its fleet and those of other airlines whose flight planning operations it manages.
The company is also showing a newly-launched version of its Teamcenter Aerospace and Defense software. It features a new web browser interface allowing a much broader audience to easily access and use the A&D solution.
Teamcenter is being used by Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and BAE Systems for the Joint Strike Fighter programme and will ultimately encompass 50,000 users
