The Egyptian air force is to receive three C-295 medium transports from next year, under a new deal with Airbus Military.

"The aircraft will be used to increase the Egyptian air force's capacity in tactical and logistic transport," says the European manufacturer. The type's selection stems from its "ease of maintenance, proven operational capabilities, versatility and adaptability", it adds.

Airbus Military says 85 C-295s have been ordered by 13 customers, and of this total, 64 are now in use in 11 countries. The company hosted a three-day operators conference for current users at its new Seville training centre in late October.
