All the occupants of a hijacked EgyptAir Airbus A320 have been released and the suspect has been detained, according to the carrier.
The airline has declared the release of all the “hostages” and the “arrest” of the alleged perpetrator.
EgyptAir flight MS181 had been forced to divert to Larnaca in Cyprus during a service between Alexandria and Cairo.
Most of the passengers had been released with only a handful, plus the crew, left on board the A320.
No injuries arising from the incident have been reported. The motive behind the hijack is unclear.
