Egypt has selected the General Electric F110-100B engine for 21 Lockheed Martin F-16C/Ds ordered as part of its Peace Vector V air-force-modernisation effort. To complete the $85 million engine deal, GE is re-opening its F100-100 line at Strother, Kansas, which has been mothballed for two years. First deliveries are due in 1998.
