A pioneering homeland security solution has helped counter drug smuggling and illegal immigration over the Arizona-Mexican border.
Elbit Systems' Hermes 450 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), equipped with the company's CoMPASS Multi-Sensor stabilised payload, is being used by the USA's Department of Homeland Security as part of the Arizona Border Control Initiative (ABCI).
As the 'eyes' of the Hermes 450 UAV, CoMPASS is a multisensor line-of-sight developed and manufactured by Elbit Systems' subsidiary Elop Electro-Optic Industries (Hall 1, C18).
