Embraer has broken ground on a new 15,000m2 (160,400sq2) facility in Évora, Portugal that will be responsible for the manufacture of "complex" composite airframe structures and components.
Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony on 26 July, Embraer president Frederico Fleury Curado said: "Today celebrates a milestone for Embraer, as it expands its global presence. This is a strategic step towards improving Embraer's productivity and competitiveness."
The facility - 120km (75 miles) south of Lisbon - is scheduled to open in 2011.
