Embraer delivered 101 aircraft in 2003, one fewer than forecast, and reiterated its earlier delivery targets for 2004 and 2005. The Brazilian company says it missed its 2003 target after one delivery planned for late 2003 slipped into January 2004. However, Embraer confirms that it plans to deliver 160 aircraft in 2004, including the first deliveries of the delayed Embraer 170 regional jet, and 170 aircraft in 2005. Embraer cut its 2003 delivery forecast from 148 to 102 over the course of the year, as it ran into delays with 170 certification and order delays and cancellations from its airline customers. Its 2003 deliveries included 87 ERJ-135/140/145 regional jets, 13 Legacy business jets and one EMB-145 military platform, and the end of the year saw the company with a backlog of 426 regional jets - 181 ERJs and 245 170/190 family aircraft.
