If you¹ve ever complained about flying economy-class, then Embraer reckons you'll change your mind after trying its ERJ 190-200 regional jet.

The Brazilian manufacturer is so confident it has brought a full-size model of the new aircraft. Weighing some 16t, it gives visitors a convincing taste of the aircraft's interior layout.

The mock-up has a three-class configuration clearly demonstrating the unique four-abreast seating that is a hallmark of the ERJ 170 and its 190-100 and -200 big brothers. Embraer opted for this configuration in response to studies showing that 95% of passengers strongly object to the middle seat found in other layouts. Embraer is arguing at the show that its configuration, enhanced by the fuselage's double-bubble cross section, provides exceptional passenger comfort in the form of superior head and legroom, broader seats and a far wider aisle. The company also says that four-abreast will give airlines significantly lower boarding and deboarding times.

Cabins

The mock-up has first-class, business and coach-class cabins with different seat pitches - eloquent testimony to the aircraft¹s interior flexibility. The standard economy cabin is fitted with 18.3in-wide seats at 32in pitch.

US manufacturer C & D Interiors produced the mock-up cabin, giving it leather-upholstered seats and representative ceiling and side panelling.
