Italian carrier ItAli Airlines has had its air operator's certificate revoked by the country's aviation regulator.
Italy's civil aviation administration ENAC says in a statement that ItAli's AOC was suspended on 11 March due to the carrier's "critical situation".
Earlier this year it emerged that ItAli, which became the first Western customer for the Sukhoi Superjet 100 in 2007, had been dropped from Superjet International's firm order book.
A Superjet International spokeswoman told ATI in January that the order was "on hold" because ItAli was facing difficulties and was in the process of establishing itself under new management.
Pescara-based ItAli had ordered 10 Superjet 100s with 10 options, which it had been planning to use to replace its fleet of Boeing MD-80 and Dornier 328Jet aircraft.
