General Electric and Pratt & Whitney have reopened negotiations to form a joint team to compete for the US Army's forthcoming Common Engine Programme to replace the current T700 turboshaft. The two companies had previously signed a teaming memorandum, but were forced to shelve the proposed partnership while GE was pursuing its now abandoned merger with Honeywell.
