Noise prediction software produced by ESDU International of London in the UK has been updated. The software predicts noise generated by turbofan engines across a 50Hz-50kHz frequency spectrum and is being validated using a Rolls-Royce RB.211 in a test cell at the UK Defence Evaluation and Research Agency's Pyestock research centre. The software, which will be released on CD-ROM "within the next few months", draws on public domain studies by NASA and "confidential" R-R data. It will be applicable to all gas turbines.
