There are a growing number of emerging fighter requirements, which will see the Boeing F/A-18E/F and F-16C/D pitched against European offerings from Dassault Rafale, Eurofighter Typhoon and Gripen. They include the following campaigns:
Swiss F-5E/F replacement starting next year; Expected Austrian request for proposals for a Draken replacement; Brazilian F-X programme to replace Mirage IIIs and F-5s; Australian AIR6000 programme for an F/A-18 and F-111 successor; Bulgarian letter of request for 12 used US F-16-A/Bs; Venezuela is considering whether to upgrade or launch a competition; European Partner Air Forces, Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands and Norway are at various stages of evaluating an F-16 replacement.Source: Flight International
