Evans & Sutherland is to supply two 12-channel EPX-50 visual systems to Qinetiq company CueSim for use in a distributed mission training concept demonstration for the UK Ministry of Defence.
CueSim is building networked simulators for the 30-month, £7.8 million ($13.8 million) concept demonstration contract awarded to the Qinetiq-led Team ACTIVE in October under the MoD’s Mission Training through Distributed Simulation (MTDS) programme.
MTDS will enable synthetic training in complex multi-aircraft combat scenarios using networked simulators. CueSim is building four Eurofighter Typhoon F1 and four Panavia Tornado GR4 simulators for the MTDS capability demonstrator located at RAF Waddington. The demonstrator will include an airborne warning and control system simulation, exercise management and analysis suite, and planning, briefing and debriefing facilities, and will be connected to other UK and US sites.
These include Aviation Training International’s Westland/Boeing Apache AH1 training centre.
