Aerolineas shuffles top executive posts
Changes are underway in the senior ranks of Aerolineas Argentinas as the airline smooths relations with its militant unions and tries to secure government approval of its accounts so that it can proceed with a public offering.
The post of executive president has been dropped. Antonio Mata, who held that post, is now chairman of the board with no executive functions. In the recently-concluded labour talks, Mata relinquished any negotiating role because of union hostility towards him.
Jose Maria Llodra fills the new post of director general, and Esteban Maccari has become general manager. He has an advantage with the unions because he is not seen as a Mata affiliate.
As soon as the Marsans group, which owns Aerolineas, is allowed to sell some of its shares to Argentinean investors, further changes are likely in the board’s makeup.
