Washington's has decided to lift a temporary freeze on new deals by the US Eximbank in China. In a policy U-turn, President Bill Clinton waived the automatic ban on Exim deals required under US nuclear non-proliferation law, despite Beijing's refusal to give assurances that it would not send more nuclear technology to Pakistan - the reason for the initial ban.
