Lockheed Martin has confirmed a new configuration of its proposed VentureStar single-stage-to-orbit reusable launch vehicle (Flight International, 13-19 October). The craft will carry an external payload bay up to 19m (60ft) long and 10m wide to provide greater fuel efficiency and greater mission flexibility. With the external payload bay removed, it could take other piggyback payloads.
