Following a three-year fight, the US Federal Aviation Administration's $40 billion three-year reauthorisation Bill has been approved by both the House and the Senate and looks set to be signed into law by President Bill Clinton. The Bill represents a triumph for FAA Administrator Jane Garvey, who has fought hard to secure its passage. It includes funding increases for FAA operations and gives airports the option to raise the passenger facility charge by $1.50. The Bill does not, however, include the FAA management reforms that the Department of Transportation had sought.
