The new Honeywell/Thales MCS-7000 and MCS-4000 satellite communications (SATCOM) systems have received FAA certification.

The systems use the INMARSAT satellite constellation, but offer the potential to interface with alternative satellite systems. They also have an upgrade path for high-speed data to provide internet access and cabin telecommunications.

The systems are also compatible with the future Aeronautical Telecommunications Network (ATN) that will enable datalink communications with air traffic controllers in a Communication, Navigation Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) environment.
