Azerbaijan Airlines has ditched an order for a pair of Boeing 737s, in favour of taking three Boeing 767s including a pair of freighters.
It is acquiring a 767-300ER and two 767 freighters, and the Baku-based airline's decision has already been reflected in Boeing's order backlog.
The move means the carrier has two 767-300ERs and two 767 freighters on order, along with a pair of 787s and two 737s.
Boeing disclosed the Azerbaijan Airlines agreement during the Farnborough Air Show.
"With our centralised geographic location, Azerbaijan is becoming a busy hub in the region between east and west, and north and south," says the airline's president Jahangir Askerov.
He says the carrier wants to take advantage of the situation by expanding its long-haul operation and developing its cargo activities.
