China Southern Airlines has selected International Aero Engines V2500 powerplants for the 20 Airbus A320s it ordered earlier this year.

The agreement, disclosed at the Farnborough air show, also includes a long-term aftermarket support contract.

China Southern has been a V2500 operator for 14 years. The carrier's president Tan Wangeng says the engine has "proven itself to be highly reliable".

Deliveries of the A320s are scheduled to start in 2011.
