Evergreen International has ordered eight Pratt & Whitney JT9D-7J durability upgrade kits for its older Boeing 747s. The order, worth $9 million, includes options on 12 kits worth an additional $16 million. The kit, which improves fuel consumption, includes new first- and second-stage turbine blades and vanes, inner and outer combustion chambers and high-pressure compressor blades.
