US aerospace companies are tapping into European Commission research funding through their local subsidiaries. Honeywell's advanced technology organisation in Brno, Czech Republic is part of a Eurocontrol-led study of innovative air traffic management, while Goodrich's actuation systems team in France is involved in an Airbus-led more-electric aircraft project.

Honeywell's Brno-based team has received funding from the EC's En Route Air Traffic Management Ultimate Systems project, which aims to improve air-to-ground co-operation in air traffic management; reduce operations uncertainty by increasing data accuracy; and achieve human-machine co-operation in all phases of flight.

Goodrich Actuation Systems in France is leading the actuation research work package under the EC's More Open Electrical Technologies project, which is developing technology for more-electric aircraft.
