International provider of research and development services and Farnborough first-timer Magna Parva is demonstrating some of its engineering solutions for hostile environments.

Visitors to the UK company's stand can see a Mars exploration display that shows specialised drilling and coring technologies, sample preparation and an instrument designed for future Mars missions that can detect signs of extant or extinct life on the Red Planet.

Among the designs on show is a working demonstration of the R3 restraint and release mechanism for the space, aerospace and defence markets. Due to its low mass and power requirements, key applications of the R3 include release from aircraft in flight, small satellites and UAVs.

"We've seen a lot of interest in our engineering approaches," says Andrew Bowyer, director at Magna Parva.

"We are looking forward to meeting as many visitors to the show as possible and discussing their engineering challenges."
