Steve Boyd puts his unblemished record on the line at Farnborough 2010 -- nobody has yet taken a bottle of champagne from him with a spring-related problem he can't solve.

The MD of Midlands-based G&O Springs says he's had numerous problems posed by airshow visitors. One of the most interesting concerned the performance of a rubber tensioner at sub-zero temperatures, says Boyd. "We showed that changing to a coiled steel spring would resolve the issue."

Precision spring manufacturer G&O returns to Farnborough on a high after winning an award from Aero Engine Control Systems (AEC) as "best in commodity for hardware 2010" - it's second year in a row to win this award.

Boyd says: "Winning this award a second time means the world to us. It's a reward for all of the team at G&O who are working harder than ever before to continuously improve all aspects of our performance"

G&O hopes to continue its winning ways by swapping its current SC21 bronze award for the more prestigious SC21 silver status before the end of the year.
