The final Lockheed Martin Titan booster was launched on 19 October from Vandenberg AFB, California after a 50-year career starting as the Titan 1 intercontinental ballistic missile. The Titan 4B launcher carried a National Reconnaissance Office satellite into polar orbit on the 39th launch in the Titan 4 programme, which suffered four failures. Future military launches will be made by US Air Force Boeing Delta IV and Lockheed Martin Atlas V Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicles.
