Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) has received certification from Transport Canada for the first of its PW600 series destined to power very light jets.
The first to be approved was the 1,350lb-thrust (6kN) PW615F engine, selected to power the Cessna Citation Mustang business jet. The PW615F features a dual-channel full authority digital electronic control (FADEC). P&WC president Alain Bellemare is pictured right alongside a PW600 mock-up.
"We are very pleased to have achieved certification of the PW615F engine, the first in the new generation PW600 family of high bypass turbofans," says Andrew Tanner, P&WC vice president of business aviation. The powerplant will receive US Federal Aviation Authority approval within weeks and European Aviation safety Agency certification in the medium term, P&WC says.
Type certification of the PW615F follows FAA type inspection authorisation for the Mustang, granted in late December.
