Lufthansa Technik Philippines would initially undertake A320 D checks in one of its two A330/A340 heavy maintenance bays when seasonal demand provides gaps in the widebody work. Expansion of the facilities to provide a dedicated A320 heavy maintenance bay could be carried out in the longer term if the level of demand is high enough. "This will depend on PAL's fleet renewal selection between A320s and Boeing 737s, "says LHT chairman August Henningsen. PAL is finalising its short-haul replacement plan and Henningsen says that, if the airline opts for the 737. then LTP will look at adding a heavy maintenance competence to the existing 737 line and base maintenance capability.
