FLEET WATCH: Orders June 2010

Airliner net orders came in at 77 in June as 89 new orders were offset by 12 cancellations, with another 18 swaps.

Emirates stood out in June as the Middle East operator ordered 32 Airbus A380s while Air China placed an order for 20 Boeing 737s. China’s CASGC swapped six Airbus A320s for six A321s while Turkish Airlines also swapped six A319s for six A321s.

Boeing totalled 49 new orders in June while Airbus received 39 and Embraer one.

In the narrowbody market, orders for 42 737s and five A321s were placed during the month. In the widebody market, a total of 41 aircraft were ordered with the bulk attributable to Emirates’ 32 A380s. In addition, four Boeing 767s, three 787s as well as two A330 aircraft were ordered in the month. In the regional market, a single Embraer 175 was ordered.

Overall, the order backlog for airliners ended June at 7,445, down 26 on the previous month.
