Hainan Airlines is selling two Boeing 737-800s to GECAS for $25.8 million.
The aircraft are nearly 20 years old, and bear serial numbers 32601 and 29947, Hainan says in a Shanghai Stock Exchange disclosure.
They are subject to inspection, against which the final sale price will be adjusted at the time of delivery. NAS Investments 10 LLC, a wholly-owned unit of GECAS, will pay the full amount upon delivery.
At 30 April, the aircraft were held on the airline's balance sheet with a collective net book value of CNY14.2 million ($2.1 million).
The transaction will help Hainan optimise its fleet and balance sheet, while increasing its operational flexibility to align with its strategic goals.
Cirium’s Fleets Analyzer shows that Hainan has 147 737-800s in service.
