Regional aircraft lessor NAC has signed a letter of intent to take up to 105 ATR -600 turboprops, including commitments covering 35 firm aircraft.
The deal also spans 35 options and 35 purchase rights.
Deliveries of the initial 35 aircraft would begin in 2020 and run to 2025.
"Today's order is very much of a strategic nature," states NAC chairman Martin Moller, noting that the lessor already has close to 200 ATRs in its portfolio.
The deal covers both ATR 42-600s and 72-600s, and allows for conversions between the two. "There is a mix of ATR 72s and 42s," says Moller, adding that while typically it has been taking two of the larger model for every ATR 42, "it's the customer that decides".
