FlightSafety International has launched a training programme for low-visibility operations with business aircraft.

The company's first training programme for Category IIIa operations is for the Dassault Falcon 2000 and uses a Teterboro, New York-based Level D simulator equipped with Flight Dynamics HGS head-up guidance system.

Installation of the HGS and Cat IIIa training allows Falcon 2000 operators to apply for US Federal Aviation Administration low-visibility operations approval, says FSI. The HGS-equipped Falcon 2000 can be flown to Cat IIIa minima of 50ft (15m) decision height and 215m runway visual range.

Cat IIIa training for operators of HGS-equipped Falcon 2000s, 50EXs and 900EXs is to be provided at FlightSafety's Teterboro and Paris Le Bourget by mid-1999.

FSI's Le Bourget training centre is the first in Europe to receive FAAPart 142 approval, allowing expanded use of simulators and flight training devices.
