New York-headquartered FlightSafety is to build flight simulators for the Airbus A350 twinjet.
The company has decided to design, manufacture and support a Level-D full flight simulator and other training devices for the new widebody.
FlightSafety says the simulator will have electrically-driven motion actuators, an updated version of the company's 'Vital X' visual system, and an ergonomic "next generation" flight instructor operating station.
The visual system will employ high-resolution satellite imagery to project scenery in different environmental conditions on a screen, giving trainee pilots a 200 x 40-degree field of vision.
Its electrical motion system will offer better performance, higher reliability and lower life cycle costs than previous hydraulically-actuated simulators, the firm adds. The new motors generate less heat and noise, and provide a safer environment.
The equipment will be manufactured at the company's facility in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, which was opened last August.
