As European representative for Scott Group Carpets, Spinneybeck Leather and Majilite, Michelle Mould, sales manager Carter Green Aero (Booth 1076) is ideally positioned to offer advice and ideas for interior trimmings.

“Scott Group offers a range of bespoke hand-tufted wool and silk carpets, fit for the Oval Office or the palatial A380 Flying Palace” says Mould “its design, manufacturing and sales are all located in the same facility.  This allows for total control of the quality from initial design to delivery.”

“Spinneybeck is one of the largest stockists of leather in the world, with over three-million square feet in stock and over 700 colours…  It has a huge stock and offers real quality leathers that include Aniline dig full grains – essentially this uses the natural surface of the hide.  The advantage is the leather retains its natural elasticity and keeps its pores allowing it to breath.

“Naked leather is fantastic for that ‘favourite old chair’ but is completely impractical for aviation – if you spill your coffee on it, it is not going to come out,” says Mould.

Typically in a VIP aircraft it is only the actual passenger seats that are upholstered in real leather.  “Many people think leather is generic, leather is leather.  What people do not realise is the huge differences in quality,” says Mould, “Top grain does not imply top quality.”

Majilite are manufactures of synthetic suede and leather, its newest offering is Novasuede.  “Majilite are always increasing its product lines to increase style offerings.  It even offers a carbon-fibre style suede that really looks authentic yet far more comfortable than the real thing.

“EBACE is a fantastic meeting point.  We can display more samples than I can carry in the car or on a plane.  It allows us to do more business, and until recently we have been the only materials supplier at the show.  Another advantage is we can actually speak to the aircraft owners as typically many owners as well as operators are among  attendees” says Mould.
